Dear Monsters,
This is so great I feel like I have to pinch myself!
I am overjoyed to announce that my book, Dear Monsters: Redefining New Age Leadership For Millennials and GenZers, has been awarded at the 2024 International Book Awards! This recognition is a testament to the hard work, passion, and dedication that went into creating this piece, and I am incredibly grateful for this honor.
The International Book Awards celebrate the finest in independent and mainstream publishing, highlighting books that exhibit excellence in various categories. Dear Monsters received a distinction as Finalist in the popular category “Business: Career”. Winning such an award is both humbling and exhilarating, and it reinforces my commitment to bringing heartfelt and meaningful stories to my Monsters everywhere.
This feels ah-mazing, especially for a young self-published Millennial author like me. You all know how much we love recognition, feedback and a good old pat on the back. I feel incredibly humbled, firstly, knowing that some serious book judges that know their stuff, hand-picked Dear Monsters out of a pile of hundreds of books and gave it a distinction. It means that I am not that crappy as an author, especially considering English is not my first language. Secondly, it proves that I had a strong team that worked with me and helped me turn my illogical and unconnected life experiences into something that resembles a book (and apparently, an AWARD WINNING one). And last but not least, I am thrilled to discover that the book speaks to people of all ages and successfully conveys the message of intergenerational collaboration.
Applying for book awards and having your work judged is a nerve-wrecking experience. But it is equally as rewarding to read the notes from the judges.
“This was an engaging, entertaining, and educational read, even for one who is not part of your target audience. I gained insight into the mindset and motivation of younger people in the workforce, as well as a glimpse into the more formal work world of banking. The author’s accomplishments are impressive, as is her willingness to show vulnerability and reveal mistakes and missteps.”
Dear Monsters is a guide for Millennials and Gen Zers who want to make a meaningful impact in their careers but are often misunderstood or labeled as entitled. If you’ve ever been called a job hopper or longed for a career filled with purpose, Dear Monsters is for you. It’s an easy read for those who want to lead change in an intergenerational workplace without stumbling repeatedly. But also, this book is for you if you want to learn more about young people at work and understand their unique needs and expectations when it comes to leadership.
In Dear Monsters, I share my journey as a young professional navigating a corporate world designed by previous generations. Through dialogue and humor, the book offers insightful leadership lessons aimed at fast-tracking your career in today’s dynamic environment. Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned professional, Dear Monsters equips you with the mindset and tools to succeed and drive positive change.
Dear Monsters is probably one of the biggest adventures to date. And hey, I am not a very adventurous person. But nevertheless, this journey would not have been possible without the unwavering support of my readers, family, and friends, who listened to me going on and on about writing a book, holding me accountable and providing me with some well needed tough love in the early drafts. Your encouragement has been my driving force. I also extend my deepest gratitude to the judges of the International Book Awards for recognizing the value and impact of this book in the world of business.
Stay tuned for more updates, including behind-the-scenes insights into the making of Dear Monsters. I look forward to continuing this journey with all of you and sharing more stories that inspire and connect.
